The Perfect Days of Grief

“Describe your perfect day,” reads the prompt.

I hold back the eye roll and, instead, open my heart.

John Mayer’s “Stop This Train” rolls into my mind, and I’m transported to a summer 16 years ago.

Sprawled on the bottom bunk, I look over, and there’s Keren. Still alive, laughing. Not yet dead, singing: “Oh, stop this train/I want to get off and go home again.”
