I write —
and I am Smaug, the dragon
atop my mountain of riches,
and no one dares to take from me for fear
I might annihilate them with one inauspicious yawn.
I might condemn the cosmos with one ill-fated sigh
so no one dreams of touching
the trove of treasures over which I reign.
I am Queen under the Mountain —
